American
Academy of Family Physicians and MetLife Foundation Collaborate to Bring
New Approach to the Problem of Childhood Obesity
September 2, 2008 - Mary Theobald has been asked to manage a new
initiative to help family physicians promote physical activity,
nutrition and emotional well-being. The projects are designed to counter
the nation's childhood obesity epidemic.
The partnership between the American Academy
of Family Physicians and MetLife Foundation aims to reduce
childhood obesity through the production and distribution of an
educational DVD and a children's book for use in physician waiting rooms.
Both products encourage patients to talk to their family doctors about
fitness and to work with them to develop plans for sustained healthy
lifestyle choices.
Theobald will manage
the entire development process for both projects, which will be
distributed in the late spring or early summer of 2009. |
