New Blog
Helps Readers Enjoy Kansas City’s Attractions, Concerts, Restaurants and
Bars “On the Cheap”
March 10, 2009 - Motivated by the current coupon-clipping climate, local
writer and marketer Mary Theobald has started a blog to help her Kansas
City area friends and neighbors get out and about on the cheap. Kansas
City on the Cheap,
www.kansascityonthecheap.com, provides up-to-the-minute information
on freebies, discounts and deals in and around Kansas City.
“Everyone—including me—is looking for deals right now,” Theobald says.
“And they’re out there. I’m just trying to make it easy for people to
find them.” Over the past several weeks, thrifty readers of Kansas City
on the Cheap have learned about free concerts, a free film series, free
resume printing and free fishing classes. That’s in addition to dozens
of deals on everything from puppet shows to Barbies®.
Kansas City on the Cheap is part of a rapidly growing network of
independently owned and operated “On the Cheap” blogs. Owned mostly by
women, the network of more than 40 blogs grew out of a series of
conversations in an online writers’ forum. Each writer owns his or her
own blog, and the entrepreneurial journalists collaborate on
developmental strategies and national deals and discounts. The sites are
supported by advertising.
The Cities on the Cheap network is celebrating its official launch
Tuesday, March 10. A complete list and links to Cities on the Cheap
blogs are available at
